God’s Law Reflects God’s Character

Please see this first video on our Commandments series.

Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

Proverbs 6:23 “For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:”

God and His Law are lamps and lights for us.

Luke 18:19 “And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.”

Romans 7:12 “Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.”

God and His Law are good.

Isaiah 5:16 “But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.”

Romans 7:12 “Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.”

God and His Law are holy.

Deuteronomy 32:4 “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.”

Romans 7:12 “Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.”

God and His Law are just.

Malachi 3:6 “For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”

Matthew 5:18 “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”

God and His Law are unchangeable.

John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

Romans 7:14 “For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.”

God and His Law are spiritual.

Matthew 5:48 “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”

Psalm 19:7 “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.”

God and His Law are perfect.

Deuteronomy 32:4 “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.”

Psalm 119:142, 151 “Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth. Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth.”

God and His Law are truth.

1 John 3:2-3 “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.”

Psalm 19:8 “The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.”

God and His Law are pure.

1 John 4:8 “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”

Romans 13:10 “Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.”

God and His Law are love.

1 John 1:5 “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”

Proverbs 6:23 “For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:”

God and His Law are lights.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

1 John 5:3 “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”

God and His Law are not burdensome.

Exodus 9:27 “And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.”

Psalm 19:9 “The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.”

Judgement – we are judged by the Law

James 2:12 “So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.”

God and His Law are righteous.

Genesis 21:33 “And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God.”

Psalm 111:7-8 “The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure. They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.”

God and His Law are eternal.

1 Timothy 1:17 “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

Romans 16:27 “To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.”

Proverbs 28:7 “Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.”

God and His Law are wise.

Ecclesiastes 9:13-18 “This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me: There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.”

Example of wisdom being better.

Numbers 23:20 “Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.”

Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”

For those who say God’s Law was changed, they are also saying God Himself has changed. To say that the Law and God, which are both described to be perfect, righteous, and unchangeable, have been changed (at least Commandment #4) shows that the person is, at most, a surface reader of the Bible.

Isaiah 1:15-20 “And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.”

Revelation 12:17 “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

The devil does not care if you claim Jesus as Lord, so long as you disobey Him like all of Christianity today. The devil does not care if you keep the Commandments, so long as you fail to proclaim Christ as Lord, like the Jews.

But you see that the devil DOES care if you are amongst the saved who both claim Christ Lord AND obey His Commandments.
