Faith Over Belief

Belief is not enough. Belief must turn into faith.

Satan and his demons had no problem believing in the Lord; they saw Him and sang to Him in Heaven. They weren’t kicked out of Heaven for their lack of belief … they were kicked out because of their disobedience.

James 2:19 “… the devils also believe, and tremble.”

Mark 1:24 “Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.”

Adam and Eve had no problem believing in the Lord; they walked with Him everyday in the Garden. They weren’t kicked out of paradise for their lack of belief … they were kicked out of paradise for their disobedience.

Belief must turn into faith because, while belief rests in the head, faith is in the heart. Belief has words, faith has actions. For the precious soul that truly loves the Lord, the Bible isn’t merely an instruction manual … it’s a love letter from our Father to His children.

He instructs us on how we ought to behave ourselves while in enemy territory.

Most importantly, however, is the fact that Jesus IS the Word.

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

If we love our Saviour, then we have a heartfelt desire to know Him better. Just as when we’re in love with someone, we want to know everything about them.

Evidence of our salvation is in how we carry ourselves daily, whether in the company of others, or by ourselves. How we treat others, how we speak, how we dress, how we eat, and everything else about us will either reflect the character of the enemy, or that of Christ.

James 2:18 “Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.”

James 2:20 “But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?”

James 2:26 “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
